Mount Grimaldi

Altitude: 805 metres
Also known as Grimalditoppen, Mount Grimaldi is located to the south of Fjortende, east of Cross Bay. It commands some of the most stunning views to be found on Spitsbergen, with sweeping panoramas of the floating ice.

Monaco Glacier

Length: Approx. 40 kilometres - Width: 6 kilometres
Also known as Monacobreen, it is situated in the Liefdefjord. It is one of Spitsbergen’s finest and most majestic glaciers, forming an ice fortress surrounded by bergy bits, a variety of small icebergs. The blue-hued glacier is particularly popular with polar bears and whales.

Mount Prince Albert I

Mount Prince Albert I

Altitude: 883 metres
The mountain was named for Prince Albert I of Monaco, who was the first person to map northern Spitsbergen from the sea. His cartographical work helped shape the wording of the Svalbard Treaty in 1920, which is still referred to today. Mount Prince Albert I is also known as Fyrst Alberts Topp, and is located to the west of Liefdefjorden.

Mount Princess Alice

Altitude: 270 metres
This mountain bears the name of the Princess of Monaco, the second wife of Prince Albert I. It is also known as Princesse Alicefjellet. Mount Princess Alice forms the eastern edge of Raudfjorden (meaning “red fjord”, for the colour of the surrounding rocks).
